![]() For history of Eastern Market, check out the Saturday morning tours offered during the summer by Preservation Detroit. ![]() Most recently we stopped in Eastern Market on a brisk February day to get a taste of the Paczki Party at the Detroit City Distillery! Of course, any visit to Eastern Market is brightened up by the Murals in the Market! They brighten up the Market and promote diversity and discussion. You can park in Eastern Market before heading down to the Dequindre Cut, enjoying some Bea's Lemonade, and then stopping for a bite before heading back home or maybe some shopping at some of the retail and resale establishments. In recent years, we've come to enjoy Eastern Market for the produce vendors, but also for the Sunday markets, the Thursday evening events filled with music and people and art, and such special events as the annual Detroit Book Fest and those associated with Detroit Design Week. We've enjoyed meals at the many restaurants in and around the Market. In later years, my husband and I would drive down for Flower Day to buy flowers, shrubs, and more to plant our garden for the summer, as well as purchasing meats at the nearby Gratiot Central Market and other markets, and cheese at Hirt's. Our family would drive down every couple of weeks to shop for vegetables and fruit. Been going to Eastern Market since I was a little girl back in the 1960s.
